WHAT WE DO
GUEST SPEAKERS & PANELS
Throughout the year, we host guest speakers from political and extra-political backgrounds for panel debates and guest lectures. We aim for a broad political balance, inviting speakers from across the political spectrum to discuss some of the biggest issues in politics. Recent speakers have included Peter Hitchens, George Eaton, Baroness D'Souza, Carne Ross and Sir Steve Webb.
INTERNATIONAL TOUR
Our annual international tour gives members the chance to explore the culture and politics of other countries, as well as experiencing the nightlife that these cities have to offer. Past international tour locations have included Dublin, Lisbon, Amsterdam, Athens, and most recently, Krakow!
SOCIALS
Warwick Politics Society is not only here for members to explore their political beliefs. We host a wide range of social events in Leamington and Coventry, giving members the chance to socialise with like-minded people. Our schedule includes everything from bowling to bar crawls, and our legendary pre-Pop circles are not to be missed. For more information about our upcoming socials, please see our Instagram.
SPORTS
Our eleven-a-side football team and our Netball team train throughout the year and compete in an inter-society cup. Anyone can join the teams, from seasoned professionals to beginners throughout the year but watch out during Freshers week for the creation of group chats and trials. We also arrange supporter events, so society members can watch the action unfold against some of our biggest rivals.
BALL
The Politics Ball is a flagship event in the University of Warwick social calendar. We host an annual formal dinner for members and their guests, held in beautiful venues across the local area. Our ball is often held at the end of the first term and is a great way to celebrate the past few months - keep your eyes pealed for tickets in October or contact our ball officer James Llewellyn for more information. (james.llewellyn@warwick.ac.uk).
MENTORING SCHEME
We offer a peer-mentoring scheme for first year students, giving them the chance to speak to a second or third year student throughout the year with any questions or concerns. First years are matched with second or third year students who have taken similar modules to give them the most relevant academic advice.
PERSPECTIVES
Warwick Politics Society is also home to Perspectives, our political commentary
magazine. We produce print editions, a podcast and online content. If you consider yourself to be an aspiring political journalist, or have any
kind of interest in political writing, this is a great way to get involved in the Society.
CAREERS
The careers branch of the Society can assist with all your LinkedIn-associated needs. Our Careers Officer co-ordinates careers events designed to help members develop their career skills, and our annual Careers Leaflet helps to connect members with internship and work opportunities.
CHARITY
At Warwick PolSoc we work hard to support local and national charities through various fundraising initiatives. As well as supporting Movember, last year we supported local charity Warwickshire Young Carers.
